PAINTING & PHOTOGRAPHY INSPIRED BY THE LAKE DISTRICT, UK
I live in the Lake District and the landscape and weather in the lakes is my constant and continuous inspiration.
It usually starts with a walk. Often with my husband and always with our labradoodle Otis. Every walk is different. No two days are ever the same and the colours, textures, sights and sounds are continually changing.
Something small may catch my eye. Something panoramic may take my breath away.
I take photographs and often that feels like just pointing and shooting and trying my very best to catch the tiniest snippet of the beauty in front of me.
I paint intuitively. Usually with acrylics on paper and canvas. My work is an exploration. An attempt to capture something of the walk and the unique beauty I’m part of daily. I build up layers of paint. Smudging, blending, scraping, removing, reapplying like a continual focus, blurring and refocusing.
Knowing when to stop is often the hardest part.
